The interplay between your body and your brain is paramount in healing
Functional Interplay Therapy is a privately owned practice founded by Angelina (Gina) Brehm OTR/L, BCN, with the purpose of providing high quality services to children, their families, and their communities. She graduated with her Masters of Occupational Therapy from Xavier University and is board certificated for Neurofeedback Therapy through BCIA. FIT has been in operation since 2017.
In 2022, Gina transitioned her service model which now emphasizes Neurofeedback. She continues to use an OT lens to assess the occupational needs of her clients. Through the use of Neurofeedback and her Occupational Therapy/Sensory Integration background, Gina offers a holistic approach to achieve greater regulation and improved quality of life.
Neurofeedback is a drug-free, non-invasive, long-term solution for many brain-based conditions. NFB adjusts inefficient brainwave patterns in order to improve symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, insomnia, PTSD, trauma, autism (ASD), ADD, ADHD, and many more. Neurofeedback is also known as EEG biofeedback.
We use a “brain cap” to capture a picture of your brain’s electrical waves. QEEG stands for Quantitative Electroencephalography. QEEG is a procedure that processes the recorded EEG activity from multiple electrodes around the cap. The electrodes collect information and records the information using a computer. The QEEG gives information about your brain’s electrical activity and whether it is deemed “normal” or slow/fast.
Neurofeedback training uses sound or visual signals to reorganize or retrain the brain waves identified in the QEEG. By responding to this process, clients learn to regulate and improve their brain function and to alleviate symptoms of various neurological and mental health disorders.
"Teach the brain to teach itself" through a non-invasive, brain-based therapy.
